EPHA AND TRIA ORTHOPAEDIC CENTER ANNOUNCE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING PROGRAM FOR PEE WEE/12U THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS – JULY 28TH AT EPCC

TRIA Orthopaedic Center will be providing EPHA with a first of its kind, functional movement screening with an emphasis on hockey specific training program.  It involves baseline testing, not unlike concussion testing, and provides the coach and player with data and exercise programs to address overall movement efficiencies by revealing any existing compensations and joint weaknesses.  The process involves a movement evaluation performed by TRIA Athletic Trainers; results are uploaded into a software program accessible via web or phone apps, with players and coaches able to monitor progress. Each player will have exercises assigned specific to them based on their results.  Several area soccer and lacrosse programs are using the system; this will be the first hockey-specific application.

The program is designed for players ranging in age from incoming Pee Wee/12U through High School eligible.  The testing will be conducted in multiple sessions on Thursday, July 28th. The test takes about 10-15 minutes.  Participants should wear dryland training clothes and shoes.  There is no charge for participating in this testing.

Due to limited space, Pre-registration is required!

Pee Wee, Bantam and HS Boys’ sessions:  8:45am, 9:45am and 10:45am (If you are not participating in the TC Hockey Dynamics clinics, please attend the 10:45 session.  TCHD participants will be tested during the dryland portion of their clinics that day)

12U, 14/15U and HS Girls’ sessions are 3:30pm (HS Girls participating in Jaime Grossman’s camp) and 4:30pm (all others)

EPHA is pleased to announce a major community grant commitment from the MidWestOne Foundation

The Eden Prairie Hockey Association is pleased to announce a 5 year community grant commitment from the MidWestOne Bank Foundation.  The grant funds are earmarked for a number of projects, including: continuing improvements and expansion of our TRIA Dryland Training Area; seating improvements in Rink 2 of the Eden Prairie Community Center; and, various equipment and facility upgrades for EPHA hockey development programs.

MidWestOne Bank has 17 Twin Cities locations, including Eden Prairie. The MidWestOne Bank Foundation strives to predominately support capital and building campaigns that benefit the greater good.

In awarding the grant, Nick Pfeiffer, Second Vice President and Marketing Officer for MidWestOne Bank stated, “Without cultural support, sports and educational opportunities, our local communities would have a hard time growing. A prosperous community is one that reaches the interests of all who live there. We created the MidWestOne Foundation to provide financial support for the arts, education, wellness, recreation and civic services.”

John Wiedman, EPHA Board Member – Special Projects, directed the grant application efforts with assistance from Chris Rosenlund, Board Member – Sponsors.  “We’re very pleased and blessed that the MidWestOne Foundation made this multi-year commitment to our association for the betterment of our facilities and players,” stated Wiedman.

Eden Prairie Hockey is looking for parents seeking to get more involved in the association to act as commissioners for the 2016 -2017 season.  As a team, the commissioners at each level will help the association make each team’s season a positive and rewarding experience.  In particular, commissioners:

  • Work with the board to select and register for the local and out of town tournaments for each team.
  • Check-in players and help during tryouts.
  • Help the tournament director prepare for and run the Eden Prairie tournaments.

The commissioners at each level are essential for our association to function and it is a great way to support your child in their hockey career.  As an added benefit, being a commissioner fulfills all of your volunteer hours regardless of the number of players you have in the Association.

If you are interested of have any questions, please contact Eric Heiberg, Board Commissioner Liaison at eheiberg@heleyduncan.com or on his cell at 612-240-6022.
